They ran away from my house in Beaufort, about ten days ago.--Hugh was raised on Mr. Gaston'; s Plantation on Brices Creek, and I expect both of them are dodging about in the bushes at that place. Hugh is about 28 years old, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, is not a very dark negro, is trim built, with very thick lips. He wears a long, blue cloth coat occasionally. He has a pass written by my daughter, dated about two weeks ago, to go to Neuse and return, which he will probably show if interrograted. Jim is a black negro, about 25 years old, about 5 feet 6 inches high, and thick set. He was raised by Mrs. Thompson, in Beaufort, and has a wife at James T. Jones'; plantation, on Clubfoot'; s Creek. Jim has a pass written by me, about two weeks ago, with leave to go to Clubfoot'; s Creek and return immediately. They have taken a longer tour than I expected, and if they return to me immediately, witout cost, I will endeavor to sell them to the man they want to live with. When Hugh reads this, he had better reflect on his error, and come home without delay. JAMES MANNEY. Beaufort, Nov. 6th, 1831. $25 Reward. RANWAY from the subscriber about the 25th or 26th of last month, a Negro man named ISAAC. His complexion is black; he is about 35 years of age, --five feet eight or nine inches in height. WILLIAM JONES. Beaufort, Nov. 21, 1836. Fifty Dollars Reward. RAN AWAY from the subscriber, on Tuesday the 14th inst., a negro man named ALFORD, a likely looking boy, about 21 years old, five feet 9 or 10 inches high, spare built, light complexion and good looking teeth; when spoken to he has a sprightly appearance, and is at times very talkative, but will not be apt to condemn himself unless carefully observed. He had on when he left home, a blue cloth coat and slick hat, and carried with him a bombazet frock coat and may other things, and will probably appear quite respectably clad. The above reward will be given for his confinement in jail so that I get him, if he be apprehended out of this county, and Twenty-five Dollars, if taken within the county. ELIJAH CANADAY. Beaufort, Carteret County, 16th Nov. 1837. 482tf $25 REWARD. RAN AWAY from the Subscriber, on Saturday the lst inst., my negro fellow named SHADRACH, he is about 21 years of age, five feet seven or eight inches high, well made and proportioned, a dark copper colour, talks rather slow when spoken to, is very likely, if any scars not remembered, and had on when he left an osnaburg shirt and pantaloons (considerably worn,) and old straw hat. I understood he went immediately on Neuse, Craven County, among the free negroes and called himself Jim Sampson and took passage in some boat for Newbern, no doubt he will try to get to the north in some vessel. All persons are forewarned from harboring, or carrying him away under the penalty of the law, which will certainly be enforced against those who violate its provisions in such case made and provided. The above reward will be paid to any person for lodging him in any jail in this State so that I get him again. DAVID L. JONES. Carteret County, August 5th, 1840.
